I had my alphas stored in these IKEA boxes that I altered for my studio.
I got tired though of opening each drawer to dig through the letters and then saw my friend, Monica's, storage box she bought from The Container Store. I loved how she could see all the letters at a glance. So I bought one and finally sat down last night and today altering it. I now have my alpha foam stamps in the IKEA drawers.
This is also a sneak peek of the upcoming color change for my studio. Right now it's black and white in here. I love it but it's not shabby enough. So after much prodding from my BFF, Stacey, I'm going to add in color. I'm going to paint the walls a soft buttercream yellow to go with my chickies and Stacey said I should add in a small hint of red. So this is the first thing to take on the new color scheme.
I used asst. black and white PPs, chipboard, acrylic paint, stamps, Stickles, ribbons, ric rac, rhinestones, buttons, and rub-ons.
The bottom of the box I painted black and then stamped different patterns in white on each side with foam stamps.
A close-up of the chick and flowers:
The chick is made from a Maya road chipboard bird that i cut the tail
off of to make look more like a chick. I painted it yellow and inked
the edges. I cut a piece of PP to make the wing and then stitched over
it. I used a flower rub-on and small black rhinestone to make the eye.
I used buttons for the legs/feet.
The flowers are made with white rub-on flowers that I went over with Frosted Lace Stickles. I put a rhinestone in the middle and red ric rac for the stems.
I'm happy with how it turned out and can't wait to start adding in the yellow and red colors to my studio!
