Chicken Scratch

If yesterday was a manic Monday...

...today was a terrible Tuesday! The first part was fine. I volunteered in Kaleigh's class and had lunch with her like I always do on Tuesdays and then afterwards I volunteered at the book fair. Kaleigh picked out Library Mouse and Hugs and Kisses as the books she wanted to buy. They're both very cute. Then the terrible part came. About an hour before school got out and my volunteer shift was over, a headache I had been battling all day turned into a migraine. I left school early and went ahead and checked Kaleigh out, came home, took some Vicodin (I can't take normal migraine meds), and let Kaleigh play on the computer while I passed out on the couch. Luckily Brendan was home early enough to take Kaleigh to dance for me. I'm feeling better this evening. Still a bit of a headache but at least the nastiness of the migraine is gone!

Last night I picked up the Girl Scout cookies Kaleigh sold for her troop. Tonight she helped unpack them and we stacked them on the coffee table to sort. Then we bagged them up (I told her which ones someone ordered and she put them in a bag... she loved doing this. LOL) She's so excited to start delivering them tomorrow. But first we had to take a picture of her with the 125 boxes of cookies she sold! :)

Just another manic Monday...

I took Kaleigh to school this morning and had a headache so I came back home and went back to bed for a bit. I got up and started cleaning house. I filled up the kitchen sink to the top to wash some dishes. When I was done I turned on the disposal when I let the water out and hear this rushing water sound and look down and water is coming out the bottom cabinets! It appears it's coming from the disposal. I shut it off, run and grab towels, and spend the next half hour cleaning up the mess that a sink FULL of water makes. I turn on the faucet to see if it still drips and yep, it does. (Keep in mind the dishwasher is also running.) So I go to empty the trash and right as I'm lifting the bag out of the can I hear that same rushing water sound... DUH! When the dishwasher does its rinse cycle it goes out that side of the sink! So in my haste to put the trash bag down and run to the dishwasher to shut it off, I knock my plate rack off the wall and 2 of my 3 chicken plates crash to the ground. So I just finished cleaning up MORE water and now the broken dishes. And so I guess til we figure out what's going on I have a dishwasher full of half-washed dishes sitting there.

Can I go back to bed and try again tomorrow??? :(

Sunday Seven

1. I finally got around to redoing our DVD storage. I was using some binders but we outgrew them (and it's too costly to keep buying more for our growing collection) so we just started stacking new DVDs in their cases on top of the binders and it was out of hand. We have an antique armoire in our living room in the walkway behind our couch that is our media cabinet. Hubby made shelving for it (it's non-permanent as we didn't want to ruin the integrity of the armoire). I bought $1 plastic shoe boxes at Big Lots and a pack of 300 plastic CD sleeves for $15. I put the DVDs in the sleeves and then categorized them into the boxes. I made labels for the front and we have a master list I created in Excel that I printed out and will hang on the inside of the door. We have lots of room to grow (by the way, I learned today we own 251 movies! EEK! LOL but the 3 of us really are movie buffs) and it will only cost new CD sleeves when we add movies. Also the bottom two shelves hold our Gameboy and Wii games/controllers. I'm so happy with this project being done. It's been a mess in there for a while now and it's been driving my OCD-organizer-self crazy. Now I can just go in and grab a movie without messing with a tower of DVD cases. :)

2. Dinosaurs love bling, too. Kaleigh LOVES dinosaurs and tonight was playing with hers. I looked over and saw this. LOL

3. I *finally* finished Breaking Dawn this week. (Yes, Monica, I know I'm slow! LOL) I zoomed through the first two books within days and then got busy with the holidays that I slowed down reading book 3. Then I didn't want the series to end so I went really slow on book 4, dreading the end coming up and it being over. But alas it is. *sigh* Guess now I can look forward to New Moon coming out in theaters this November and pray it's better than the first movie.

4. I love Coldplay. We're watching one of their concerts on the HDNet channel. They rock. My absolute favorite song of theirs is The Scientist.

5. I need to seriously get my etsy shop up and running. I have lots of ideas but nothing planned. I.need.to.quit.procrastinating.

6. Tomorrow I get to pickup 125 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. I have no idea how much space that takes up but I guess I'll find out!

7. I can't believe the weekend is already over. :(

My poor baby...

Kaleigh's still sick. :( She is sleeping alot right now. She fell asleep on the couch last night before bedtime. Then this morning she woke up around 7:30am and got in bed with me and went back to sleep til 10am. I put her in the bath and she played a bit. When she got out of the tub she laid on the couch wrapped up in her towel and fell asleep. Poor baby. But isn't she sweet?

Digi Scrappin'

Kaleigh is still sick so she spent the day on the couch today. She wanted me to sit with her most of the time so we watched TV and I digi scrapped a bit. I took her to her pedi this afternoon. It seems every other child in town is sick. The pedi office was BUSY! Anyways, she has a sinus infection and is taking antibiotics, Mucinex, and doing breathing treatments. She'll be home again tomorrow til we hit that 24-hour fever-free mark. Kindergarten has been SO ROUGH on her this year.

Sunday Seven

1. I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's! Brendan brought home flowers for me and Kaleigh on Friday. We decided to forgo gifts right now as money is tight and just gave each other cards instead. Kaleigh went to my parents' for the day to spend the night, and Brendan and I had sushi takeout and watched Definitely, Maybe. Cute movie! We went to my parents' on Sunday for my mom and sister's birthdays (on the 14th and 18th respectively). Here are some pics from our weekend:

Kaleigh opening her Valentine's present from Daddy and Momma. She LOVES dinosaurs and had asked a few weeks ago for some dino toys. :) Funny thing is tomorrow I'm sure these will be playing alongside her Barbie dolls. LOL

2. Speaking of Kaleigh, my poor baby is sick. She had a fever Thursday night but it went away before bedtime. It came back Friday morning so she had to miss school and her Valentine's party. :( Saturday she was okay. Then this morning she woke back up with it. So to the pedi we go in the morning. Her only symptom has been a fever but this afternoon she got congested and her voice got all raspy. I gave her a breathing treatment when we got home this evening from my parents'. My poor baby looks so pitiful! :(

(Oh, and her mask looks a little funny in the pic. It's a fish face if you can't tell. LOL)

3. Remember our new dog, Belle? Well, she has certainly made herself at home and a part of our family. She and Buffy wake up in the morning, go outside to potty, then come back in a wrestle for an hour or two. Then they'll nap, wrestle some more, eat, maybe go outside for a while if the weather isn't bad, come back in, eat, nap, wrestle some more, nap, you get the idea. LOL They LOVE playing together and wrestling. And whereas Buffy isn't much of an outside dog, Belle LOVES to be outside. She'd stay out there most of the day if we let her, laying in the sunshine. She also loves her toys. Buffy was never much for chew toys but Belle chews her bones non-stop. She loves to have her tummy rubbed and you can hold her in your arms and she'll lay there like a baby and sleep. The funniest thing though is every night at dinner she HAS to play with or rest on Brendan's feet. I have NO IDEA what that's about but every night, without fail, that's where she's at at dinnertime. Anyways, that's my update on Belle. Here's a photo I took this week. She's almost posing. :D

4. High School Musical 3 comes out on DVD this week and I'm so excited! How big of a dork am I? I already asked the girls at Scrapfreak and they concurred. LOL I don't care! My sister-in-law and I took Kaleigh and my nephew to see it in the theater opening weekend and I loved the music, the scenes, the costumes, everything. Definitely my favorite of the trilogy. Can't wait to own it and watch and singalong with Kaleigh. :D

5. Coupons. So I keep hearing about all the differnet coupon games and techniques so I'm going to give it a go. My mom had a guest at her retreat one weekend talking about it and she offered to teach my mom. So one day this week we're going to go to her house and hopefully learn a thing or two! In this day and age who couldn't afford to save a buck or two?

6. My cousin cut my hair today. Same style... it was just getting too long that it wasn't doing much. But I need to schedule a color with her ASAP. My roots are showing! EEK! LOL

7. Brendan met with our CPA on Friday and filed our taxes. Woohoo!!! We're getting a return!!!

Random Stuff

Just wanted to share two digi layouts I created for Crystal Wilkerson's CT at 2peas. She has some new goodies available today so I got to play around with some cute stuff. :)
 

And here's a photo I took tonight of the moon. It was all big and low in the sky (which you can't tell in the photo) and all orange with a few clouds blowing by in front of it. It was very cool. Excuse the grainy photo. I had my ISO bumped all the way up.

Just another Monday...

It was just another Monday here. Nothing fancy. I did laundry, the dishes, scrapped a little, and that was about it. ;) I made one paper layout and two digi layouts. Below is the paper layout I did. The two digi ones I made for Crystal Wilkerson's CT and will share tomorrow when she debuts some new goodies at 2peas.

Kaleigh's Valentine party is this Friday at school and she had to fill out her Valentines and make a box to receive her Valentines in at the party. I cut the hole in the lid and glued sequins around the border to hide the raw edge. Kaleigh decorated it with her stickers. :)

Tomorrow is a busy day. I volunteer in the morning in Kaleigh's class, I have bloodwork being done in the afternoon, visit my grandparents after I pickup Kaleigh from school, dance class at 5:30pm, and then come home and finish my hybrid album I'm working on for Crystal. So I'm off to bed now for a little date with Edward. ;) I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Sunday Seven

1. There's a cupcake phenomenom going on at Scrapfreak right now. For some reason everyone keeps talking about cupcakes, baking cupcakes, craving cupcakes. So the bug bit me, too, and I had to make some myself. Tonight I made Lemonade Cupcakes. The cupcakes were pretty yummy but the icing was poop. The recipe said it would have a runny consistency and they weren't lying. The icing kept running off the cupcakes so it made a messy treat. But we enjoyed them just the same. Now I'm sitting on the couch miserably stuffed and finishing watching the end of Dark Knight and so ready for bed.

2. I'm a Pogo addict.

3. I'm working on a cute hybrid album with Crystal Wilkerson's {Lots of Love} Quick Page Album. I'll finish it up tomorrow and share.

4. I still don't know what I'm doing for Brendan for Valentine's Day. Kaleigh told me the other day she wants some dinosaur toys (the girl LOVES dinosaurs) so we'll probably get her that for Valentine's.

5. I watched P.S. I Love You again last night. I love that movie. I had to go buy the soundtrack on Napster last night. Good stuff.

6. I love Facebook. This week I had two old friends find me. One was from high school and the other college. Super cool to reconnect.

7. I need a new printer. Mine crapped out. I don't need anything fancy. Just a simple color inkjet that'll print photos. Although I do have a separate photo printer already, I use that one for scrapbook photos. I want in inkjet that'll print good for when I print on matte cardstock for crafts. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

My Valentine's Cutie

I took Kaleigh this morning to get her Valentine's portraits made. We do this every year. We also include Bear in one portrait. I love how sweet they are together. ;)
