Friday Fill-In

2. The fall season is what I look forward to most this time of year.

3. My best friend was my maid of honor in my wedding.

4. I really don't care  to be honest with you. (I'm a little nicer than that! ;) LOL)

5. Appearances can be deceiving.

6. The last person I gave a hug to was Kaleigh when I dropped her off at school this morning.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to time with hubby, tomorrow my plans include crafting/scrapbooking with Kaleigh and Sunday, I want to go house hunting!

Back to School

I ran out of time tonight to blog my Sunday Seven tonight so this will just be a quick post. I told myself I'd be in bed by 11pm tonight and I still have to shower and do a couple other little things before my head hits the pillow. I have to get out of my stay-up-late routine now that school starts tomorrow. Kaleigh's very excited finally! She wasn't ready for school to start til we went to Meet the Teacher earlier this week. Now she can't wait to be a 1st grader! *sniff*sniff* Her clothes are laid out, backpack is ready by the back door, and she promptly met her 8pm bedtime. The alarm clock is officially back on after being off for 3 months. Ready or not... it's back to school! Here's to a great year!

Friday Fill-In

3. Is that my last Dr Pepper in the fridge!!???

4. I'm trying to resist the temptation of staying up too late each night this week but I've failed miserably.

5. I'm saving a hug just for you!

6. If I made a birthday list a macro lens would definitely be on it!!!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to resting after a day of school clothes shopping, tomorrow my plans include training for my jewelry business and Sunday, I want to enjoy doing nothing with the fam!

My New Tattoo

Tonight my mom, sister, and I went to the tattoo shop so my mom and I could get tattoos. My sister, Kelly, has 7 herself but didn't get one tonight. I have one already (a ring on my toe on my left foot) and tonight I got chicken feet across my right foot. My mom got her first tattoo - a swirl with flowers and a butterfly.

As you probably know (if you know me or read my blog) my nickname is Chickie/Chicken. Chicken is my childhood family nickname. So that's what I got!
 

My mom got her tattoo in honor of her daughters/granddaughter. The 3 flowers are me and my two sisters, Kelly and Alex. The butterfly is my other sister, Brandi, who passed in 1999 from cancer. The little flower by my flower is my daughter, Kaleigh. When Kelly and Alex have children then my mom will add flowers for them by their flowers.
 

I designed both mine and my mom's tattoos and we love how they turned out. What a memorable evening! :)
 

Sunday Seven

1. What a fun weekend! Friday night I had my debut as a Jeweler for Premier Designs and then we hung out with friends, Saturday the three of us went to downtown Ft. Worth, and today we had lunch with hubby's family for my father-in-law's birthday. Good times with friends and family. :)

2. As I mentioned, Friday night was my debut as a Jeweler for Premier Designs. I had a successful show and hubby is quite happy to see me finally bringing in a little income. ;) Kaleigh was so cute! She helped my Premier Sponsor setup for the show. She made two signs... one for the front door and one for the room where the jewelry was set up.
 

Then she set up her bracelets on a shelf next to the jewelry table. She said we could try them on but they weren't for sale. ;)

3. On Saturday we tried out a new restaurant, Fred's Texas Cafe. Hubby found it on the Food Network site on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It was really good! Then afterwards we drove around Ft. Worth looking at old homes and then down to the Stockyards where we walked around a bit. We cooled off with an ice cream cone, drank ice cold Dublin Dr Peppers in a bottle, and checked out the shops. It was nice to be a little spontaneous and just get out of the house with the family and do something a little different. I didn't have my Canon with me; just my point-and-shoot.

 

 

4. I was blog hopping tonight on some of my favorite home decor blogs and was led to this blog for a project. I stumbled upon her latest post where she shared pictures of her sister's home for sale. Such a CUTE little cottage! A little small for our family (and a little far from Texas LOL) but I would love a place like this. I'm totally stealing the *frames over the bed* idea in the master bedroom. We don't have a headboard right now (we have a window over our bed in this rent house) but when we buy a home I plan on making one out of an old door and love the idea of the frames with it! And I know it's cliche... but I want the white picket fence! ;)

5. I'm watching We Are Marshall right now. I love this movie. Makes me choke up everytime!

6. I just scored a subscription to Country Living magazine for $5 thanks to Kimba at A Soft Place to Land. You can view her blog for more info on other magazines on sale at Amazon. I'm still really bummed that Country Home ceased publication so I'm gonna give this one a try.

7. I saw this image on the Simple Mom site. Love the window with the hanging frames! Filing this away for when I get an old window off my Nanny's house (they're buried in the garage right now).

The Moon

Meteor Shower Hangover

Okay, not really a hangover, but last night Kaleigh and I stayed up LATE to watch the meteor shower. She fell asleep about 2:30am last night and for some reason didn't sleep late like I thought she would. She still got up around 8:30am this morning. Well, this afternoon she said she was tired and she got her pillow and blanket and laid on the couch watching TV and drawing. At one point I looked over and found this:

So regarding the meteor shower, we had a blast! We left the house around 1am and drove out to the country where my aunt and uncle live. We parked in their drive, spread blankets on the back of my car, laid down with a quilt, and watched the sky. While watching for meteors, we drew shapes in the sky with the stars and just talked. We listened to the crickets chirping and loved the cool breeze. We saw about 19 meteors total in just over an hour. Well, I saw 19 total... Kaleigh missed a few - not to mention she fell asleep about 40 minutes in and missed the last 9. But I loved our time spent together doing something different and LOVED when she told me how much fun she was having and how neat it was. What an awesome night with my little girl. :)

Sunday Seven

1. I took this photo of our dog, Buffy, the other day. It reminded of a photo I took of her as a puppy. Wasn't she cute??!! :) (Excuse the puppy photo quality... it was a scan.)
   

2. On Friday I finished up two more samples (fall and winter) for the August Project Freak Class at Scrapfreak.
   

3. Hubby had a *Daddy rite of passage* last night. We had friends over for dinner. At one point in the evening their daughter was playing with Kaleigh in her room, us girls were on the patio talking, and the guys were in the kitchen hanging out. So while Kaleigh was playing with her friend, her friend evidently told her *if you punch someone and they don't cry then it makes them stronger*. So off to the kitchen the girls go. Kaleigh goes up to Daddy and tells him she can make him stronger. He says okay and then she proceeds to nail him in the nuts. She pulled that left arm back to punch and WHAM! He said she got him GOOD... took his breath away, made him double-over, the whole nine yards. His immediate reaction was to get on to her but later he explained to her that you can't hit boys there. :giggle: I felt bad for him but I told him I think every father has to have this happen to them at some point. ;)

4. Right now I'm watching Phineas and Ferb... alone... without Kaleigh. LOL Of all the shows Kaleigh watches on The Disney Channel, this one I love.

5. School starts 2 weeks from tomorrow! Where has the summer gone??!? Starting tomorrow, Kaleigh and I have to start getting back on a schedule and that means going to bed earlier and no more sleeping in (which means also setting the alarm clock to get used to that again... UGHHH!!!)

6. I found this project on Susie Harris' blog tonight. Love it! Gonna have to make one myself. :)

7. I hope to pick up this book soon! I love making stuff for our home and can't wait to see what ideas she has in this book. :)

8. I know it's Sunday Seven and this is #8 but I have one last thing to share... Happy Anniversary to my mom and step-dad! They celebrated 18 years today. :)

3. Hubby's freshly shaved head is something I love to touch.
