So I shared this already this weekend but I wanted to highlight it today to share on other craft/decor blogs. Have you ever created a project that you just love? That's how this one turned out. ;)
I went to Habitat for Humanity ReStore (very cool store for junkin'/altering projects) and bought this old cabinet door for $1. It measures 14x12.5".
It was very dirty so I hosed it off outside and scrubbed it with a brush. I removed the hardware, keeping the handle, and let everything dry. Once dry, I spray-painted it with *Krylon Fusion for Plastic* spray paint in Dover White (an off-white color). I love this paint because no sanding/priming is needed and it can be used on most surfaces like metal and wood. Once it was dry, I sanded the edges to distress it and even (gently) threw it on the driveway a few times to ding it up. It gouged a few deeper scratches in the surface and even cracked it a bit for a great worn look. I spray-painted the handle with black paint and reattached.
For the insert, I took a piece of scrapbook paper and sprayed spray adhesive on the back and applied it to the door. I cut my sheet just a tiny hair larger than the insert so that I could tuck the edges up underneath the trim. I hot-glued some ribbons/trims and these old water faucet handles (and buttons) to make flowers.
I'm linking up to share at these sites:

That is super cute! I love that the flowers are made from water faucet handles!
Glad I stopped by from Tip Junkie!

Oh my goodness, this is so cute! You did a fantastic job, and I can just see you throwing it in your driveway. lol
Is the ReStore awesome? Best place for cabinet doors, definitely.
Want to make a date to do something crafty before school gets out? Or, we can try the garage sale thing again.
