So I finally finished up the last few touches on our powder room and can show the *before and after* photos. :) I want to apologize for the crappy photos. It's hard to photograph rooms to begin with, let alone small ones like bathrooms and with no natural light. The space is cramped and the lighting is awful. But without further ado...
Before
Can you say WHITE??? LOL At least when we moved in we got a blank canvas to work with. ;)
So I wanted a color scheme of robin's egg blue on the walls with black and white accents. Long story short we had to buy our bath rugs at Bed Bath and Beyond. I wanted black ones but they didn't have them in the style I wanted so I found some I liked but in a *sea mist* color. Not the robin's egg blue I wanted but since we had to buy the rugs there then I had to change my wall color. Went to Lowe's next, got the paint to match, came home and painted. The rugs don't work. Sonuva @#$*%! Took them back and now had to go elsewhere for rugs. I had the hardest time finding a small rug for in front of the sink but finally found some cheap ones at Target that fit even though they're not the loop rugs I want. They'll do for now. So now the rug color is back to black and I could have went with the robin's egg blue on the walls. Oh well. It's still a pretty color but it's bold. It's called Soft Jade but truly is a Tiffany blue. I still might come back in about six months and repaint it robin's egg. ;)
Anyways, here are more pics.
I love my mirror wall. I've been wanting one for a while now and have collected a few mirrors over time, not knowing what room they'd go in but that I'd make my mirror wall one day. :)
I bought this mirror at an antique store for $15. It's solid and heavy. It was a cream color distressed with brown stain. I spray-painted it white and distressed it with a black stain. I added the bow on top to cover the wall hanger.
Here's the mirror before. Say hi to Buffy. LOL
I bought this little mirror at Jo-Ann's years ago. It was cream and I spray-painted it black and hung it with white ribbon in my studio for a while. It's been in storage ever since. I took it out, distressed it a bit, and re-hung it with gingham ribbon.
This mirror I bought about two years ago at a thrift shop for $4. It was brown. I spray-painted it black and distressed a bit.
These three little mirrors I bought at Hobby Lobby two Christmases ago. They were on sale for $1.50 each and were actually Christmas ornaments on red sheer ribbon. I replaced the ribbon with this gingham. Love them!
And then the bathroom sink mirror was on clearance at Lowe's for $25. I thought it was black but when I got it home and opened it up it was a very dark brown. So I spray-painted it, too. I also spray-painted the light fixture from a bronze to black.
We had a builder-grade chrome hand towel ring on the wall. I took it down and replaced with this iron (plant/windchime/???) hanger I bought a few years ago at Hobby Lobby in the garden aisle. It was cream and again I spray-painted it black. I love that it's more unique than just a regular hand towel ring. :)
And this little iron bird used to be cream and sat in my living room. He got a coat of white spray-paint and some distressing and now sits on the sink. :)
I also spray-painted black the brown wicker trash can. That's it for now. :) I still need a few more pieces on the walls. I'd like to find some kind of wreath/twiggy-something-or-other or maybe embroider something to frame for the wall to the right of the sink. And then on this big empty wall I want to hang an old window and make some bird art with it. Stay tuned... :)
This bathroom makeover was relatively inexpensive because alot of the accents I've purchased over time and kept in storage waiting to be used. All I had to buy was wall paint ($20), a mirror for over the sink ($25), a new toilet paper holder ($20), and bath rugs ($20). Maybe another $10 on 2 cans of black spray paint and 1 can of white gave new life to everything else. :)
Thanks for looking!
